Does my friend need the app too?

Yes. They open your contract link, install Cura and sign. That works on iPhone (TestFlight) or Android (Google Play testing).

What does my accountability partner see?

The contract, the stake you agreed, and every check-in.

Does the stake have to be money?

No. Money, a forfeit or a consequence you’d rather avoid. Cura never holds, transfers or guarantees money.
